Blushing is a marked redness of a person’s face. The redness is an indication of embarrassment, shame, or modesty.

In itself it can cause great stress and embarrassment, causing sufferers to avoid public speaking, or getting involved in any kind of situation where they are likely to blush.

In circumstances where the redness persists for abnormal amounts of time after blushing, then it could be a possibility of an early sign of rosacea.

There is actually a medical condition known as "Idiopathic craniofacial erythema" where the sufferer blushes strongly with little or no provocation: this is a medical condition characterised by severe, uncontrollable, and frequently unprovoked, facial blushing.

Blushing can occur anywhere at any time and is often triggered by even mundane events; for example, talking to friends, paying for goods in a shop or even asking for directions. The redness can take several minutes to dissipate which leaves the sufferer feeling exposed and embarrassed.

It is generally the result of an Anxiety Disorder, which is very successfully treated with Pure Hypnoanalysis (analytical therapy).
